Erratic Mouse Pointer
I RESOLVED my issue of an erratic mouse pointer even when the mouse was disconnected from the PC. I discovered that a rogue Fitbit dongle had been left connected in the PC. Once I disconnected it the erratic mouse pointer remained calm and steady. Hope this helps someone else as it took me ten days to resolve.
